La Cipolla is an Italian restaurant based in Suzhou. La Cipolla, the Italian word for 'Onion,' is the sister restaurant of 'The Onion Restaurant' (Serving Chinese Food) based in the same city. The design of the restaurant itself focuses on the dichotomy between its Western influences on traditional Chinese architecture.
The character in the logo represents a playful deity with a love of food. With the design, we try to bring La Cipolla into life by having the deity obnoxiously play with the bread as if it was a flute. The ultimate goal of this logo was to animate the liveliness and freshness of the food compared to the traditional and historical city it serves.
